Candace Ayers’ paranormal romance novella is probably one of the sweetest books I’ve read for a while.
Remy is a dragon shifter, and he meets his mate, who is on the cusp of tying the knot with another ‘male’.
This is a quick read. I read it mostly in one sitting. I don’t know how long it is, as it doesn’t say in my device, but judging on the location numbers, the novella probably sits at about 120 pages.
Nervous Lennox doesn’t know what she wants
This irked me a bit at the beginning, but her inability to make a decision is part of the character arc.
Lennox has spent her life under the thumb of a domineering mother, and her father seemed to play along. So Lennox’s mother has practically planned and managed Lennox’s life. Up until now.
It is great to see Lennox grow and adopt boundaries. It made me think about my own boundaries, actually. I can be a people pleaser. The only thing is that you don’t want to get me angry, because like Lennox, I tend to let fly.
Drunk on arrival but sweet to the last
Remy meets Lennox drunk and injured, and perhaps if he hadn’t have been, Lennox might not have paid as much attention to him.
He is naked when they meet.
If I happened to meet a naked man on the eve of my wedding, I’d run a mile.
That’s for sure.
But Lennox is forced into a situation where she makes a choice between Remy and her fiancé.
I only started to like Remy when he comes out with:
I did as my female commanded.
He is as beta as you can get but he has his priorities in the right place. He’d do anything for Lennox.
While this book isn’t very long, and a bit predictable, the ending is sweet. There is no action plot, apart from Remy punching out Lennox’s fiancé. But lots of sex, which kept me happy.
The story of how Remy wins his mate is enjoyable and I found it entertaining enough to read in one sitting. I give it 4 out of 5 from me.
